Milonga A Media Luz, Atlanta
Venue: 1st Existential Church, Candler Park
Host: Cooperativa
DJ: Horacio
Dancecard: Bonnie Marie, Elsa from Mexico, Heidi from Asheville, NC, Kristin, Margit, Mary from Auburn, AL, Nathalie, Olena from the Ukraine, Sara, Sherry from Minnesota, Solange from France.
Notes: First dance with Sara who brings her Papa.
Kissed and made up with Margit.
Danced Milonga with Zouzy.
Bonnie Marie caught my cabeceo from across the room. But then she comes to me before the music starts instead of waiting patiently for me as she should. So she gets a proper scolding for her fox paw . . . that is faux pas for Zouzy and Sherry and all my other Francophile readers. But we say fox paw here in Georgia.
Kristin is back from Buenos Aires looking lean, tanned and lovely. She is a porteña. She dances with feeling, so soft, confident, elegant, precise and responsive.
Danced Milonga con traspie to a Candombe with Elsa. She giggles as we click together.
Sherry can't wait to dance with Mickey but she leaves too early.
Danced La Cumparsita with Bonnie Marie.
trEATS: Sherry's Sangria.
Regrets:
The heat.
No photo of Elsa.
Photonotes:
Tonight I debut shooting with my new Fujifilm FinePix S9000 with the benefits of an amazing 9 Megapixels. Even so, it's still a little point-and-shoot toy. But I like it.
I've decided to rely more on my Flickr Gallery.
So I will no longer photoblog in line.
Go to my Flickr Gallery to see my photos.
Enjoy!
Ron wrote on Tango-Georgia:
By the final "La Cumparsita" last night, 75 dancers had found their way to Milonga A Media Luz @ Tango Bistro--a new record! Thanks to all who came from near and far, with special thanks to
the Members of La Cooperativa Milonguera, whose commitment to this milonga makes it possible
Sherry Quayle, for the delicious Sangria
Zouzy Bonnet for her great work at the door as well as in setup and breakdown
Horacio, for his "top of the line" music
Very pleased to announce that five of the original seven Cooperativos--Jane Ingols, Tracy Miller, Kristin Wendland, Horacio Arcidiacono, and Sid Gordon--were in attendance, as well as "The Father of Argentine Tango in Atlanta" himself, Mr. Steve Rose.
Next MAML is Sunday, September 24th. See you then.
