A Lesson in the Steps that Lead to the Dance

Host: Ron Dennis y La Cooperativa
DJ: Horacio
Practice: Bonnie Marie, Carol from Denver y Sherry
Dancecard: Bonnie Marie, Cheryl, Elsa, Jerrin, Ronda, Ruth, Sherry y Siama
Dance Notes:
Started the night with Sherry in Horacio's class.
Danced a fine candombe with Elsa.
Ronda and I made up with a good dance.
Siama led me for 30 seconds. She's crossed over to the dark side to become a woman who leads.
Strong connection with Jerrin.
Annoucements by Ron. Someone said that he sounds like Lawrence Welk. Its true.
Danced La Cumparsita with Bonnie Marie. She said that I looked Greek. I thought so because of my eyebrows. She thought so because of my nose.
Photo Notes: My digital flash is too hot. So I play without flash but with more aperture and less speed to catch the light. The light is warmer but the images blur with the movement. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't. See for yourself.
Regrets:
That I don't have a Nikon or Canon or Fujifilm Pro.
That this Milonga does not go all night forever.
Pura Vida on Highland
Host: Leslie y Danny
Dancecard: April y Crysta
Notes: Its showtime for the dueling couples: April y Angel and Crysta y Julian.
They get applause. I get photos. But no one throws money.
Regrets:
Danny is missing in action. May he have a speedy recovery!
Lots of men. Not many women.
The floor is sticky and difficult to dance.
The noise of the crowd makes it difficult to hear the music.
Angel wrote on 7.29.06:
I think that referring to Julian and Crysta and April and I as "dueling couples" misrepresents why we dance. I do it to have a good time, not to show off. I might try more daring moves with April becaue I know her better than anybody else, but I never try to compete with any other couple, just with myself to give my partner the best dance possible.

After tango class we go to the Brick for Warsteiner because life is too short to drink cheap beer or dance with ugly women.
Salud y pesetas y mujeres... *
* Cut in deference to Angel's objections. I translated it thus:
To health, to wealth and to good looking women!
To our wives and our lovers, may they never meet.
